Volunteer at The Furniture Bank
Our volunteers are the heart and soul of The Furniture Bank. Their generous contributions of time and talent help us serve over 200 people each month. Please contact us at furniture@caritasva.org if you can help with any of the following:
- Treasure Hunter – help us sort and sell vintage and antique items in our consignment locations and online. Shifts are flexible M-F, 9-4.
- Personal Shopper – meet with clients and "shop" for their household goods. T and Th 9-12.
- Furniture Repair and Restoration – Anytime during operating hours. Need skilled labor.
- Warehouse Worker – Help deliver and pick up furniture (M-F, anytime between 9-2)
- Host a Community Collection (linen drive, kitchenware drive, pots and pans collection). This is a great project for civic or youth groups
- Build Dressers – At your location or ours. Pre– cut kits available. Learn More...
- Host a Charity Event – Anything you can think of where goods or proceeds go to benefit The Furniture Bank: Golf Scramble, Yard Sale (shared proceeds), Arts & Crafts at Your Congregation, Additional/Supplemental Collection, Dinners, Auctions, etc!
- Outreach – Spread the word about the Furniture Bank and our exciting activities.
Tours are given on Wednesday afternoons at 1pm and the volunteer form can be completed at that time. We ask for a commitment of 20 hours: it can be 1 hour/week or 5 hours a week. Consistency is what counts so our clients are served in the most effective way.
Building dressers, hosting a charity event or hosting a community collection are great projects for groups and can be done off site. Please contact us at furniture@caritasva.org if you have a group that wants to participate.
Items donated to the CARITAS Furniture Bank will be given to clients and used to further the mission of CARITAS.
