Team Effort Raised $8,600
Thanks to a strong outpouring of community spirit and volunteer teamwork, our first ever yard sale raised $8,600 for the CARITAS Furniture Bank. The sale, which was actually held inside our warehouse, included non-essential household items that had been donated, but were not appropriate for our CARITAS clients. Our goal was to make these treasures available to the community at great prices with the proceeds going to support the Furniture Bank obtain essential household furniture.
The success of the sale is the result of a tremendous team effort among our Americorps members and volunteers. Over 200 volunteer hours were logged in to set up for the sale, help during the sale, including directing traffic and loading furniture in shoppers’ vehicles and clean-up. We even had program participants from the Healing Place grilling burgers for sale, adding a neighborly feel to the event.
Special thanks to Keck Realty for their support by allowing us to use additional warehouse space to hold the sale. And, a final thanks to those who came out to the sale, and who came back the next day with friends. We appreciate your support! Watch our web site for the next YARD SALE event coming later this year.
