From Shelter to Stability
How to Host a Shelter Week
Nothing CARITAS does is possible without meeting our most basic need: finding congregations like yours willing to take up the call to provide overnight shelter.
Please give the gift of shelter. You may change a life, and your life may be forever changed!
Here are the basic requirements for hosting one week (or more) of shelter (guests do not stay on sight during the daylight hours):
- A desire to serve--this is most important!
- A Key Volunteer who is willing to accept a leadership role at your congregation
- 50-100 enthusiastic volunteers
- Room to feed and sleep 28-40 people
- Access to showers, on or off site (we can help with this).
- Access to laundry---on site, at a laundromat, or take home
