October 25, 2012. In Governor McDonnell's Inaugural Address, he called on Virginian's to pursue the vision of "A Commonwealth of Opportunity" by seeking ways to get involved and be a good neighbor. The First Lady's FLITE Foundation works to highlight individuals and groups making a difference in the following areas:
Karen Stanley was recognized at the Third Annual First Lady's Opportunity Hall of Fame Awards Dinner last night. Thirty-eight people/businesses/organizations from around the state were noted as "Seal of Approval Recipients." After the nominees from each area received a beautiful certificate, a video was shown that reflected the specific area of interest and one nominee was selected to be inducted into the Opportunity Hall of Fame. Inductees received a beautiful glass award and $2000.
Karen was chosen as the inductee in the Commonwealth of Opportunity for Women in Business category and her certificate says, "For exemplary efforts in providing the support, training and material assistance necessary to break the cycle of homelessness and restore stable and productive lives."
