Volunteer at Works
Volunteers are the lifeblood of our organization and our program – they give our students unique perspectives on the real world of interviewing and help expose our students to a variety of professionals with whom they are apt to encounter in the workplace. They are instructors, coaches, trainers, shoppers, fundraisers, event planners, and administrative aides. Most importantly, they help our staff build its capacity in serving our mission; and we are grateful for their gifts of time every day.
Trained volunteers are invited to view our class calendar to determine dates and times that they can assist in the classroom as resume writers, computer lab coaches, or as mock interviewers.
The following are a sampling of volunteer opportunities:
- Mock Interviewer: Help our students prepare for a real world job interview.
- Computer Lab Coach: Help students grow in understanding of the basic function of a computer.
- Resume Writing Coach: Help motivated students develop their personal resume.
- Classroom Prep Specialist: Help our staff and students get the classroom materials prepared and distributed..
- Clothing Center Manager:
Help our students look sharp and prepared from the second week of class until the coveted interview.
- Business Clothing Shopper: Help our students find jobs by ensuring they are “dressed for success.”
- Morning Motivations Leader:
Help keep our students, staff and volunteers motivated by getting their day started on the right foot.
- Database Specialist: Help our staff track and record the progress of our students from the classroom to employment and beyond.
- Tailor: Provide professional hemming, tailoring (e.g. bust, waist, length, etc.), to help properly size clothes for our students.
